Manual – quite a bit sharper so I tried setting Auto Fine Tune to -10
Real World
This guy came in from nowhere so I just started shooting. 100% crop shows lack of sharpness, perhaps 1/2000 was too slow or maybe just the f8.
Great detail from about 30m away, 100% crop still shows some blur. Next time f10 rather than f8. And I wonder if the focus is a bit too close to the camera – that setting of -10?
This one is tack sharp even at 100% crop, take a look. 1/1600, f10 – perhaps the f10 is what does it.
Tack sharp at 100%
Again I wonder if the -10 fine tune setting is bringing the focus point to close to the camera ? See how sharp the stump is ? Maybe -10 works for objects that are closer.
No problem tracking the bird as it leaves
The heron flew away in the shadows and still the autofocus seemed to keep up. Not enough light really.
Crazy eyes and is that horizontal ending moire patterns?
No problem holding focus on the bird, although I was having difficulty tracking the bird(s).
